My hometown church, Town and Country Christian Church in Shelbyville, IN, is hosting the 2006 Blue River Folk Music Festival. The Shelby News has coverage.

Fun With Electricity
While today saw more deadly storms raging across the Saint Louis area, sparks were flying inside my apartment.
I noticed this morning that my lights and power were flickering. The problem seemed to get worse toward the late afternoon, when a power spike fried three of my surge protectors and took out the GFI outlet in my bathroom. Inside the breaker panel, I found sparking and arcing going on at the common line – an indicator of a short somewhere.
I tried isolating the short by systematically turning off each breaker in turn, but could not find a specific culprit. So, right now, I’ve got all the breakers off, except the essentials: the breaker with the refrigerator, and one with the bedroom outlet with my alarm clock. (The laptop is running on battery power right now.)
Worse yet, nobody was answering the emergency maintenance line for the apartment complex. I’m pretty sure I’ve mitigated any risk of an electrical fire tonight, and hopefully someone can get over first thing tomorrow to find out the problem.

My New Friday Night Stress Reliever
Can’t think of a better way to end the week for the next eight weeks: Co-Ed Sand Volleyball. Our low-rec team, Bananas, lost all six games we played last night; but I guarantee we had more fun than anyone else!
On that note, happy Daylight Savings Time-change night!

It must be the weather; I’m just finding the need more and more to attend to my grooming needs:
Here’s a good spot to lick… right… here.

New Glasses
I last had an eye exam five years ago. My glasses have been held together with super glue since November. Time for an eye exam and new glasses. Exam and two pairs of glasses for $69? Sweet! My appointment is set for Thursday, after work.

More Weekend Catblogging
My human put me through a rough week. First, I had to go to the clinic, and have things poked into me, and have things squeezed, and have blood drawn, and generally be put through misery. Then, he continues to force-feed me an awful-tasting pill. So, I have been demanding more of his attention to compensate.
I think I’ll sit on your end-table until you realize you need to pay attention to me.

I Knew The Day Would Come
I almost didn’t post this, because I know she’ll read it; and I don’t want her to feel guilty for having the happiness she deserves.
I expected it… I prayed for it, sincerely… I knew one day it would happen.
But I still wasn’t ready for it.
When it was over, I knew it, and accepted it. I never wanted or asked God to change it – just tried to begin to move on.
And I want more than anything for her, that she be happy.
But I wasn’t ready for it – ready to face the reality of her with someone else, having feelings for someone else. And now I’m dealing with the remnant of the hurt: what hadn’t – couldn’t have – surfaced until now, mourning the final vestiges of the deepest human intimacy I had ever known.
And I’m struggling with it.
Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous fall.Psalm 55:22 (NIV)
Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me.Psalm 54:4 (NIV)
