Gospel Thread - OT:
But Gideon told them, "I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The LORD will rule over you."
Judges 8:23 (NIV)
God's original intention was to the sole ruler over mankind - to be man's sole and benevolent source for leadership and governance. However, due to man's sin, our perfect relationship with God was broken, and mankind has had to endure being ruled by fellow man. Christ's redemption of man will one day bring about the restoration of God's original intention, when Christ returns to establish His eternal kingdom. What a wonderful day that will be, when we once again look to our Lord as our sole source of governance!
Gospel Thread - NT:
6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'
Luke 24:6-7 (NIV)
Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection are the balance point in the history of civilization, and the pillar of God's plan of man's redemption from sin.
Gospel Thread - Psalms/Proverbs:
Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.
Proverbs 14:9 (NIV)
True repentance and godly sorrow bring about not only a desire to flee from sin, but also a desire to righting the wrongs of our past sin.
