At Branson Landing, you will have a whole new world to explore, with Belk Department Store, Bass Pro Shops and over 100 specialty stores and restaurants, PLUS… the NEW Hilton Promenade!

Don't miss the magnificent $7.5 million water fountain spectacular, synchronized to light, sound, music and fire!

Downtown is where Branson got its start around 1888. It’s a shopping and entertainment destination with the flavor of an “old time” Main Street, preserved building facades, brick sidewalks and Victorian lamp posts. Historic downtown Branson is located just east of Hwy 65 along the shores of Lake Taneycomo.

Today, Lake Taneycomo is a premier trout-fishing stream that offers visitors the opportunity to spend a relaxing day sightseeing or fishing on the water. In the mid 1920’s the lake earned its reputation as a pristine fishing spot.

Visitors from near and far will find a unique shopping opportunity in Downtown Branson’s 60 retail stores. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of dining choices and historic points of interest.

Downtown Branson has a flavor of America’s old time mercantile district. Its historic railroad depot on Main Street is now home to Branson Scenic Railway, which offers rides through the countryside in authentic 1950’s luxury passenger cars.

Downtown Branson is rich in history with 19 historic sites. Guided historic walking tours are available by appointment, or you may take the tour on your own, with a map provided by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association at 119 W. Pacific Street. The self-guided tour map is also available by calling 417-334-1548.

Visitors are welcome at the Branson History Museum at 119 W. Pacific Street free of charge. The Museum is part of the Branson History Project, and both are sponsored by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association.

Everywhere downtown, whether you’re strolling down the brick lined sidewalks, riding in an old-time horse drawn carriage, or relaxing on the Downtown Discovery Trolley, your imagination steps back to a simpler time.

Roy Rogers/Dale Evans Museum

Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum

Welcome to The Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum. We've had a lifetime of Happy Trails full of love, laughter, and sometimes sorrow. Everything we've ever done is right here for everyone to see. For nearly as long as I can remember, I thought about having a museum. I've always liked to save things. No matter what came my way, whether it was a letter from a boy or girl movie fan or from a President, or a nice shotgun or an old-time telephone, I stuck it in the basement, or the garage, or in drawers at home. Dale would say, “Honey, when are you going to empty those drawers?” I'd put everything in a box and call the van & storage company to come pick it up and keep it for me.”

In 2003, we moved from our museum in Victorville CA., to our new location in Branson, MO. Our place isn't really a typical museum - it's personal - things that Roy & Dale have done, and the kids and the family and Trigger. All the stuff Roy had saved - tools his dad had when he was little, some of his mom's scrapbooks, pictures from the early days of the Sons of the Pioneers, all sorts of things that meant something to Roy and Dale. You know, Trigger is one of our most popular exhibits. He is mounted like so many people remember him - rearing up on his hind legs.

As you walk past all the glass cases and displays in the Museum you will see the old battered car that took my family out of Ohio to the promised land of California. There's Pat Brady's Jeep Nellybelle, and pictures of Gabby Hayes when he was a serious young actor. There's Dale wearing fancy hats for her first photo session, and Roy in overalls standing next to his first horse, Babe. You'll become a part of Roy and Dale's memories of the good times and the bad times and the hard times.

“Dale and I like to think that it will be a place for people to come have fun and learn about our lives, and also to remember what America was like so many years ago. We're happy to share a glimpse of our lives together with you, and we invite you to come on in, take a look, and spend some time.”

Reviews:

After God reveals to the righteous Noah that a flood will extinguish all life on earth, He charges the man to construct an ark massive enough to shelter his family, any other true believers, and pairs of every species of living creature.

Lacking materials, Noah takes his three sons to Nod, a city in decline. The family tries in vain to convince their friends and neighbors to join them, and are ridiculed and attacked throughout the decades it takes them to fulfill God's command.

Watch Noah and his family try to care not only for themselves while at sea, but for their vast menagerie as well. Experience their stress at being cooped up together for more than a year. When their trying journey is finally complete, marvel at the wonder of God's reward for Noah's unquestioning obedience and devotion to Him.

Lodging Selection

(Or, Kepner and Tregoe go to Branson)

Long Story Short: Our Top Two Choices

Long story short, here are our top two choices for Branson lodging, in order:

  1. Westgate Branson Woods
  2. Thousand Hills Golf Resort

Short Story Long: The Decision Analysis Process

Short story long, here's the decision process:

List of Must and Want Objectives

We decided that we wanted lodging that met the following objectives:

MUSTs (Mandatory, Measurable, Realistic Objectives)

  1. 2 BD / 2 BA with kitchen
  2. Less than 3 miles from Branson attractions
  3. Less than $250/night (total for two couples)

WANTs (Nice-to-have Objectives)

  1. (10) Convenient to attractions
  2. (10) Least expensive
  3. (7) Spacious
  4. (7) Large, well-appointed kitchen
  5. (7) Cabin “feel” (rustic, yet updated/well-kept)
  6. (7) Internet access
  7. (6) In-unit jacuzzi tub
  8. (6) Playground/play area on-site
  9. (6) Pool on-site
  10. (5) Near grocery store
  11. (5) Convenient golf
  12. (4) Other on-site amenities

(The numbers in parenthesis are relative ratings, with 10 being the most important, and each other criterion rated relative to the 10-rated objectives.)

List of Alternatives

With these objectives in mind, we selected five different alternatives from which to choose:

Must Objectives

We compared each alternative first against our MUST objectives, and assign
a “GO” / “NO GO” assessment for each criterion:

#1 2 BD / 2 BA with kitchen

(All 5 alternatives had accommodations that met this criterion) (GO)

#2 Less than 3 miles from Branson attractions

For this criterion, I used the distance from the Titanic museum, which is centrally located with respect to several of the attractions in which we are interested:

  • Stone Bridge: 6.7 miles from Titanic Museum (NO GO)
  • Westgate: 2.7 miles from Titanic Museum (GO)
  • Pointe Royale: 3.1 miles from Titanic Museum (GO)
  • Thousand Hills: 1.2 miles from Titanic Museum (GO)
  • Notch: 6.9 miles from Titanic Museum (NO GO)

Thus, Stone Bridge and the Notch cabin are eliminated.

#3 Less than $250/night (total for 2 couples)

  • Westgate: $151/night average (GO)
  • Pointe Royale: $179 - $211/night average (Basic versus Luxury condo) (GO)
  • Thousand Hills: $211/night average (GO)
Comparison of Alternatives Based on Want Objectives

Next, we evaluated the remaining alternatives with respect to our WANT objectives. For each objective, we determined with of the alternatives met the objective the best, assigned that alternative a “10”, and then rated the other alternatives according to how well each met the objective relative to the first alternative.

Then, the relative rating for each alternative is multiplied by the weight assigned to the objective (resulting in a number between 1 and 100).

This evaluation is repeated for each objective. Next, the criterion-weight / alternative-rating product for all objectives is summed for each alternative, and the alternatives compared based on relative overall conformance to the WANT objectives.

#12: (4) Other on-site amenities Best 10 40 Better 8 32 Good 6 24
TOTALS 668 441 680

As you can see, Westgate and Thousand Hills are essentially identical, while Pointe Royale is clearly inferior, relatively speaking, in meeting our stated objectives.

Thus, our top two alternatives are:

  • Westgate Branson Woods
  • Thousand Hills
Comparison of Adverse Consequences of Each Alternative

Next, we evaluate the potential adverse consequences of each alternative:

Westgate:

  • Internet will cost extra $50
  • Must drive in order to play golf
  • Must drive 3 miles to attractions

Thousand Hills

  • No playground on-site for girls
  • Most expensive: will cost $300 more than Westgate for 5-night stay

Then, for each adverse consequence, a Probability (P) (high/medium/low) and Severity (S) (high/medium/low) are assigned, and the relative RISK of each alternative is evaluated:

Westgate:

  • Internet cost: P (high), S (low) (even with this extra cost, Westgate is still the cheapest option)
  • Drive for golf: P (high), S (low) (golf won't be often, and drive is minimal)
  • Drive for attractions: P (high), S (low) (drive is still short)

Thousand Hills:

  • No playground: P (high), S (medium) (still outdoor space to take girls)
  • Most expensive: P (high), S (high) (cost difference equals several/all attractions for week)
Selection of Most Balanced Alternative

The final step is to determine which objective has the best balance of maximum conformance to WANT objectives and minimum risk of adverse consequences.

We decided that the adverse consequences of spending an extra $250 for the week (lodging difference minus internet cost) and not having a playground area on-site for the girls far outweighed the adverse consequences of driving slightly farther for attractions and golf.

Therefore, our top choice is:

  • Westgate Branson Woods
