As the name suggests, this was my first Evernight game. Very few active players;
I worked with my neighbor, Bugecko, and we dominated the game. We had a third partner
in the alliance, but he went inactive by mid-game - though he still took third place.
I learned absolutely nothing about waging war in this game, though I did develop some
diplomatic skills.
Foolishly opting to skip a TOE game, I went right into a Mag7 game. I had the early
land-rush down, as well as general diplomacy - but I was sorely lacking in battle experience.
I made some friends this game - Malcor (now Axewielder), Solalegre, Trebornod, and Finndo, to
name a few. I did fairly well early-on, getting solidly into the purse-winning places, but by
mid-game my inexperience began to show. Though I kept up well with changing game-dynamics, I
was over-powered by RPMRICH, JugTime, and Knight of Nee. Solalegre blocked off RPM's advancement,
and JugTime guaranteed me a survival region, which, had the game taken any longer to end, I
would have needed.
Made an early friend in this game - Palma. Expanded well early on, and became captian of
my team, which included PyroGuy, Buzzard, and Palma. Palma and I shared a border, making us
formiddable from the very start. We took down Knight of Nee (though he avenged himself rather
well in our Mag7 game), and then, since Palma was growing much larger than me (I had NAPed myself
in, effectively, due to my borders being shared by two teammates from each of two different teams),
Palma took over expansion, and I took the reins to work out an advantageous endgame. I managed
to broker peace with the top two teams, and worked out a deal to allow the first place team
(headed by DemonKnight) to take the last BB, which I cast on our shared border, thus assuring us
a finish in the purse.
All in all, I learned a great deal about advanced diplomacy and endgame strategy in this game.
Played this game with an old IRL friend of mine, to whom I ended the game alleged.
This game took FOREVER, only ticking MWF... I stayed competitive the whole game, and was
part of an alliance including Alaghon (our leader), Trebornod, BoweryBulldog, and Reign of Fire.
As AsianWolfman was the same religion as those of our alliance, I used that to our advantage,
and everyone in the alliance (except, I think Reign of Fire), ended up in the purse. Pingu,
Dweezil, and Wickerbill made things interesting, and all also shared in the purse.
All in all, I learned a great deal about advanced diplomacy and endgame strategy in this game.
What a fun game! Though it dragged on a bit at the end, this game was generally fast-paced
and fun. This was the first game where I was successful both as a diplomat and on the field
of battle. Chazmanian Devil (a game-long ally) and Drey (one-time foe, but eventual ally)
deserve much credit for my victory. All who played displayed remarkable honor - Incisor, Delmar,
AsianWolfman, Warthog, to name a few. Memorial battles included those with Dream Weaver (this
guy never gives up!) and The Knockout Kid (got a bit too agressive this time, but I hope the
tables never get turned!).
In this game, only first place got any of the purse. A few players, close together on a small
field of battle, made for an interesting game. Communication proved to be the key to winning
the day. I learned quite a bit about battling on multiple fronts, as well as the importance
of fury management.
This two-tick-per-day game was intense! The game started with a three-way alliance
between Yoshi-san, Nitrox, and I. BjorksMaster was my first opponent - and insisted we
fight to the death, even after RyanG and I offered him a survival region. RyanG declared war
on me, also, and Czar joined in the fight. Yoshi can to aide me after getting through Kafka,
and I held off RyanG while dealing with Czar. Creatrix joined our alliance, and helped me
finish off Czar, while Yoshi and I concentrated on RyanG. We temporarily took the upper hand,
but RyanG's Wooden Attack eventually began to wear us down. We were competing against a rival
alliance - RyanG, Momster, and WaterDios, and that made for some interesting battles. Eventually,
Nitrox wore down Momster, other friends joined our effort (Jodyman01, Ladyblu, Krynn, and Snort),
and Yoshi and I made peace with RyanG, in order to attack Shadowjack. Creatrix cast out, and
the Incinerak Alliance won the day.
Hindered by a poor start position, I was disadvantaged from the start. I formed alliances and
NAPs with all but one neighbor, Enots, whom I focused my attacks against. Chaelian proved to
be a very helpful ally and mentor. With some slight pushing from him against Enots, I was
able to exact my first ELIM kill. That kill gave me room to grow, and become somewhat
competitive. Chaelian and I had a plan worked out, but due to a quirk, he and his opponent
killed each other at the same time, leaving a huge swath of unclaimed territory. I claimed
all I could, and used my resources to help Sword Saint, my liege, end the game.
