In 2000, after graduating from college, I moved to Kalamazoo, MI, to accept a job offer.
Faith
Despite my work travel, I was able to find a church home - the Kalamazoo Valley Family Church.
I took the "Get a Grip on the Basics" class, which is a precursor to membership. The church also started a Young Adult / 20-something group, called NFocus. I participated as a member, and then as a leader. Most of the NFocus activities took place in a house that the church bought and converted into a coffee house, so I spent much of my free time as one of the mamagers of "The House," as it was called.
Right before I left Kalamazoo, I participated in a mission trip with KVFC, traveling to Manchester, England.
Work
After graduation from college, I accepted a job offer in Kalamazoo, MI, where I worked as an automation/controls engineer and Computer Validation Specialist in the Pharmaceutical industry. My firm was a contract engineering firm, which meant that I spent most of my time on the road, in places such as Allegan, MI, Columbus, OH, and Indianapolis, IN.
Community
As I began to adjust to my new home, city, and state, I slowly started to get involved. My first venture outside of work was participation with the Kalamazoo Civic Theater. Due to my work travel/schedule, I was only able to participate in one performance: the Christmas production of Amahl and the Night Visitors.
